Interview with Hikvision; We caught up with Hikvision ahead of Securex West Africa 2018 to uncover their expectations for the industry in 2018 as well as any highlights visitors can expect to see from them this year at the exhibition.

Tell us a bit about Hikvision as a company…

Hikvision is the world’s leading provider of innovative video surveillance products and solutions. Featuring the industry’s strongest R&D workforce, Hikvision advances core technologies of audio and video encoding, video image processing, and related data storage, as well as forward-looking technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and deep learning.

In addition to the video surveillance industry, Hikvision extends its reach to smart home tech, industrial automation, and automotive electronics industries to achieve its long-term vision. Always creating value for its customers, Hikvision operates 28 regional subsidiaries all over the world to achieve a truly global presence.

Why did you choose to sponsor Securex West Africa 2018?

2018 will be a really important year for us at Hikvision, for that reason we have not only chosen to sponsor the show but also to take a bigger stand, our largest to date. We want to use this opportunity to showcase our strength, and enhance our brand awareness.

As the No.1 worldwide supplier of innovative video surveillance products and solutions, we will be using our presence at the exhibition to increase our connections to the West African market, as this is a highly lucrative one for us.

Why did you believe it is important for companies to participate at Securex West Africa?

We chose to take part at Securex 2018 because it is currently the largest security exhibition in West Africa and is an essential platform for us to demonstrate our technology, products and solutions to the local market.

The event marks an annual opportunity for security professionals to connect with clients, show their new products and so on. As a market leader, it is our responsibility to be resent at this show.

What is your opinion of the current West African Security and Safety market?

We have witnessed the requirement for increased security and more sophisticated technology grow substantially over the past few years, particularly in West Africa. From our side, we began a number of large projects in 2017, the likes of which include airport, hotels and other industries. We know the West African market to be a lucrative and healthy one.

Securex West Africa is an important event to attend for us, as we can learn more about the growing requirements in the region as well as help to empower senior professionals to work together to enhance safety and advance sustainable development.

What services/ products will you be promoting at Securex West Africa?

Artificial Intelligence has become the most trending technology in the security industry. This year, under the theme “AI+ Empowering Partners”, Hikvision will showcase a series of our latest and most advanced technological innovations with AI Technologies.

Hikvision will also exhibit the DarkFighterX Series Cameras, the technology from which is modelled on the human eye – two distinct sensors for capturing and combining brightness and colour – then enhancing that ability in extremely low-light environments. The technology results in colourful, bright, and accurate imaging, making night time surveillance video appear nearly as clear as daytime video.
