What makes exhibiting at a leading trade show worthwhile?

In an age where being digitally connected to one another is like second nature, we have become increasingly reliant on making sales across email, telephones and even WhatsApp. But what happens when it comes to closing that crucial deal? It’s tough to electronically convey all the benefits of your products or services and if you’re not willing to make the trip in person, you could lose out.

So what’s the solution? Find a suitable trade show… Rather than sending your sales team across the country to sell to individual clients, why not invite them all to you, on your turf.

Imagine your booth like an open house, brand it how you want, display your key products and information for visitors and have your sales team there to close deals face-to-face. Statistics show that even with all the technology available to us, building business relationships in person means you’re more likely to close a deal faster and retain that customer for longer.

Exhibitions serve as an influential platform for companies, professionals and industry experts to share knowledge, network and facilitate key partnerships. They are an important part of marketing new products, direct selling, advertising, brand awareness and generating commercial development.

As exhibition organisers ourselves, we understand that, although it’s a crucial part, each trade show isn’t just about selling your products and pitching your services to clients. Exhibitions can offer great opportunities to gather market insights, to benchmark yourself against your competitors to ensure you’re not missing anything and provide key networking. With a huge proportion of industry professionals in attendance, more often than not, a lack of presence can be detrimental to a brand from a consumer perspective.

We sat down with two of our long-standing Securex West Africa exhibitors to find out why they take part in the show each year and what their business strategies entail.

HIKVISION: The world’s leading provider of innovative video surveillance products and solutions.

For Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co., Ltd, why has Securex West Africa been an imperative part of your marketing plan each year?

First of all, Securex West Africa is the biggest security exhibition in West Africa and has been recognised locally as the authority event which attracts a lot of visitors. Secondly, based on our previous experience with Securex West Africa, taking part provides a great opportunity to showcase our newest products and technology to the buyers in our target market.

What opportunities has Securex West Africa opened for you?

The brand exposure we obtain for our West African market over the two days of Securex West Africa is invaluable for us. It allows us to connect with existing customers, distributors and important potential customers, to gather information about them and understand their needs.

Do you have a specific sales strategy when it comes to exhibiting? If so, can you divulge any tips?

We like to clearly divide our products on display by market suitability so it’s clear for visitors to easily find what they need. Additionally, when interacting with visitors, we like to get to know their business to find out how we can contribute to their success. Having our products on display is very useful when closing sales, because you can simply demonstrate the capabilities of the equipment there and then.

AFRISEC: One of Africa’s leading security distributors for products and solutions across various sectors.

For Afrisec, why is Securex West Africa an integral event in your business calendar to take part in?

We always take a stand at Securex West Africa as it is known in the region as the main security exhibition for installers, integrators and end users for Nigeria and West Africa and it’s the easiest way to connect with our customers over a short space of time.

What opportunities has the event opened up for you?

Securex West Africa is a good platform to brand our business and a useful portal for our partners to engage with their customers in one place. We also achieve some good leads which then gives us a great return on investment.

In all honesty the show gives us the opportunity to bring together all our partners on a regional stage in one place so we can showcase our entire product portfolio to demonstrate our commitment to the market.

Do you have a specific sales strategy when it comes to exhibiting?

Our strategy is to invite our customers to visit us, so they can compare what we can offer to our competitors for themselves. It gives us an opportunity to demonstrate why our services are superior. We make sure the stand is fully functional, well-staffed and well branded – you never know who will attend.

For you, what elements of the exhibition are valuable?

Networking, building bridges and reaching people that are often too busy to see us in the local environment. We get to see a great deal of customers under one roof, in just two days.

Stands are still available at Securex West Africa 2019, the No.1 exhibition and conference dedicated to the commercial, information, perimeter and homeland security, fire and safety markets in West Africa.

With our limited-time-only discount of 10% off stand space, get in touch with one of our sales team as soon as possible and quote code ‘SWA19-E’ to obtain this discount. Contact Ben Dale, our International Sales Manager at Ben.Dale@montex.co.uk or via telephone on +44 (0)20 7886 3048.
